The Los Gatos High School Robotics Team invites you or your company to join us in modifying the way in which our society views careers in engineering, science and manufacturing as well as the methods by which math, science and technology are taught.

It is well documented that there are more technical positions available in the workforce than there are trained individuals to fill them. Consequently we turn to foreign engineers and technicians to meet the employment demand. We want to rectify this by promoting careers in engineering and manufacturing from within our own country.

The Los Gatos High School Robotics team is made up of students, teachers, and parents from our school and engineers and mentors from local businesses who've volunteered to help.

We compete against other high school teams in a highly regarded international program called FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) in which each team has only six weeks to design, fabricate, program, test and ship a 130 pound robot that competes with nearly 1,000 other high school teams in exciting regional and national competitions.

Dean Kaman started FIRST in 1990 to inspire high school students in science, math and all aspects of technology and design. The competition is designed to simulate the workloads, challenges and time constraints of real engineering projects. Mechanical and electrical engineering are the key foci of the competition, but students must also deal, with fundraising, project management, computer animation, pneumatic engineering, and programming.

We deal with the same workloads, technical challenges, and unrealistic time constraints that real world corporations must face. During the six week build schedule students typically spend hours each day on the robot in addition to their studies, Students are excited by science and technology and they are inspired to pursue great educations and exciting technical careers.

Our team is an after-school club, we receive support but no funding from our school. In order to participate in the FIRST Robotics Competition we need to raise $25,000 each year for our program. We hope you will join us in our mission of turning today's students into tomorrow's engineers.

We invite you to join in their endeavor through your sponsorship of our team. Your company name or logo will appear on our team shirt robot and website as well as competitions local and nationwide.

In addition to money donations we also need donations of food, parts, materials and promotional items such as banners, shirts, hats and buttons.

Our most urgent need is the entry fee for the FIRST Robotics Silicon Valley Regional Competition. The fee is $7,000 and is due December 9th!

Your generous donations assure the success of this program and our endeavor to inspire and encourage young people to apply their talent and energy to the fields of math, science and technology in preparing for technical careers. All donations are tax deductible. If you would like to meet our team, visit our facility, or would like more information, please feel free to contact Mr. Muntz.
